Basic renovation

Basic renovation is comprehensive renovation during which is renewed all surfaces and furnishings of the apartments, technology at the property, (e.g. electricity and plumbing), and usually also the common areas such as saunas and laundry rooms. Basic renovations take place approximately every 20 years. Each year, Hoas renovates 300-500 apartments.

Good to know

Basic renovations are typically made for the entire property at once. Occasionally, the renovation will be done only in certain stair.
During the basic renovations it is not possible to live at the property/stair in question since the area will become a construction site.
Tenants will be notified at least six months before the basic renovation begins.
Typically, upcoming basic renovation means that all tenancy agreements will be terminated. We will notify about the effects on tenancy agreements well in advance.
You can apply for a new Hoas apartment if you fulfill our criteria for tenants. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee you get a new Hoas apartment.

What is done during basic renovation?

We reshape the apartment floor plans to better meet the needs of the tenants, for example, converting larger apartments into studios.
We develop common areas to serve the tenants as well as possible.

Are you moving out due to a basic renovation?

You can apply of a new Hoas apartment if you are still a full-time degree student in a capital region. Apply for a new apartment by submitting a housing application.

We recommend that you begin the search for a new apartment as soon as possible. Even if your tenancy has been terminated with the lessors’ notice period, you can terminate your tenancy with one month notice period and move into a new apartment before the end of the lessons’ notice period.
