Free internet
As a Hoas tenant you get an internet connection as a free additional service. For security and functionality reasons, we always recommend using your own router.
- Connect your own router to the data socket in your apartment using an Ethernet network cable (RJ-45), and connect computers, phones, and other devices through the router (via Wi-Fi or cable).
- Each apartment has only one data port through which the internet connection enters the apartment. Only in shared apartments does each room have its own data socket. The data socket or port cannot be changed.
- In a cable network building, you need a cable modem to establish an internet connection.

How to set up Hoasnet
Using internet connection in the apartment
Hoas provides tenants with a free internet connection. For security and functionality reasons, we always recommend using your own router.
Recommended method (for all tenants)
Connect your own router to the data socket in your apartment using an Ethernet network cable, and connect computers, phones, and other devices through the router (via Wi-Fi or cable).
When you use a router, it:
- protects your devices from external threats
- enables the secure use of multiple devices
- improves network stability and manageability
This follows general information security recommendations and is the safest option for home use.
Direct connection without a router
A single device (e.g. a computer) can technically be connected directly to the data socket only in exceptional cases.
Please note that:
- the device is then directly on a public network
- there is no firewall or other protection provided by a router
- the tenant is fully responsible for the device’s information security, updates, and protection
A direct connection is not recommended for continuous use.
Responsibilities and limitations
Hoas is responsible for providing the network connection up to the apartment’s data socket. The tenant is responsible for their own equipment (router, computers, smart devices) as well as their information security and proper use.
Wireless connection
If you wish to have a Wi-Fi at your home, you’ll need to purchase your own router.
Is the internet not working?
If you have problems with your internet connection, please contact the service provider directly.
