Tenants’ co-operation body

The tenants’ co-operation body (ASY) is an important channel for influence, through which Hoas tenants can participate in joint decision-making and help develop student housing together with Hoas. The purpose of ASY is to highlight the tenants’ perspectives, bring forward housing-related themes, and promote dialogue between tenants and Hoas. ASY meets approximately three times a year.

ASY is made up of the chairpersons of tenant committees and other tenant representatives, who bring with them diverse experience and perspectives.

ASY’s influence is also visible in Hoas’ administration: its chairperson serves as a member of the Hoas board, and a tenant representative takes part in the work of the housing division. This allows the tenants’ views to be directly incorporated into Hoas’ decision-making processes.

ASY offers a concrete opportunity to influence and develop the Hoas community for the benefit of all tenants.

How to get involved in tenants’ co-operation body – and why it’s worth it

You can join ASY through tenant activities. The tenant meeting selects a representative for ASY from among its participants, so by getting involved in your building’s tenant activities, you also gain the opportunity to have an impact at a broader Hoas level.

As a member of ASY, you can influence:

  • guidelines and recommendations concerning the operations of Hoas as a whole
  • initiatives that promote community spirit and housing comfort
  • ensuring the tenants’ voice is heard in board work
  • the development of services, communication, and practices related to tenant activities

What are the benefits of participating?

  • Opportunity to make a difference: You can have a tangible impact on your own and others’ housing.
  • Networking: Meet tenants from different properties and build connections across the Helsinki metropolitan area.
  • Experience and skills: Gain hands-on experience in representation, meeting procedures, and community development – all useful for both studies and working life.
  • Chance to influence decision-making: The chairperson of ASY serves as a member of the Hoas board, so tenants’ perspectives are brought directly to the strategic level.

Participation is voluntary, flexible, and above all, meaningful. Every voice and viewpoint is valuable.
