Hoas updates communications for housing applicants

Hoas will begin sending new application-specific messages to housing applicants starting on 20 October 2026. The aim of the update is to help applicants improve their chances of receiving housing by providing tips and guidance related specifically to their application.

Previously, applicants received reminder messages if they had specifically subscribed to them on their housing application. The new application-specific messages will replace the previous reminder messages, and from now on, the new messages will be sent automatically to all applicants.

Messages will be sent approximately every two weeks from no-reply@hoas.fi in the applicant’s chosen service language (Finnish or English). The content of the messages will vary based on the information in the application. For example, an applicant may receive a message encouraging them to expand their area selections or increase their maximum rent if their current choices reduce their chances of receiving housing.

The purpose of the messages is to help applicants keep their applications up to date and make choices in their applications that may improve their chances of receiving housing and make the search easier.
