Significant actions
By identifying the most significant impacts and opportunities for impact in our operations, we can focus on them in the smartest way for the overall picture.
Why do we care?
We want to focus our sustainability efforts on areas where we have a scientifically proven ability to make the most significant impact. This means directing our efforts toward our largest sources of emissions, such as construction.
We cannot realistically stop building, which would be the easiest way to reduce emissions. Providing affordable housing is only possible if there are enough apartments. Therefore, we are looking for the most impactful ways to reduce construction-related emissions.
We take the entire lifecycle of a building into account when constructing, as the products and services we purchase for maintaining our properties were the fourth-largest source of our carbon emissions in 2023.
We are also taking actions to respond to the growing regulatory requirements. For example, by improving energy efficiency, we reduce our carbon footprint related to energy production while also complying with the EU’s directive on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD).
What are we doing?
- Low-carbon new construction guidelines.
- We assess the climate impacts of new developments throughout their entire lifecycle.
- We maintain and repair existing properties in a timely manner.
- We improve energy efficiency.
- We procure energy produced from renewable sources.
