Exchange student apartments

You can scroll through all the properties that have exchange student apartments on our properties page. We offer three types of apartment solutions for exchange students: a room in a shared apartment, studio, and shared studio. Majority of the apartments for exchange students are shared apartments.

All exchange apartments are furnished with basic equipment. All the apartments are non-smoking and pets are not allowed. If you need more info about the pets in Hoas apartment, please contact us by email.

Locations of exchange student apartments

Exchange student apartments are located in several areas through Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa.

In Finland, student housing is not on the campus. We aim to offer you an apartment that is located within a reasonable distance from your school or has good public transportation connections. Public transport connections are considered good if a one-way travel takes maximum of 45 minutes to your destination.

Types of apartments

A room in a shared apartment

Communal living in shared apartments creates opportunities to meet new people. You have your private room with lockable door and share the kitchen, toilet, and bathroom with other exchange students in the apartment. There is usually between 2 and 8 exchange students living in the same apartment together.

Shared apartments are either all-female or all-male.

Rent (in 2025): approx. 454-584 €/month
Room size: approx. 10 – 18 m

Studio

Studio apartments are good option for those who need their privacy. Studio apartments are rented to one person. Studio consists of one room including access to a common or private kitchen space, and a private bathroom.

We have a limited number of studios available. We recommend that you also apply for another apartment type, such as a room in a shared apartment, to maximize your chances on getting an apartment.

To whom: Exchange students, Single applicants
Location: Helsinki, Espoo
Rent (in 2025): approx. 633 – 890 €/month
Apartment size: approx. 17 – 31 m2

Shared studio apartment

Shared studio is ideal for couples or two friends in Finland for exchange studies together. This apartment type is not available for rent to only one person. Shared studio consists of one room including access to a common or private kitchen space, and a private bathroom.

We have a highly limited number of shared studios available. We recommend that you also apply for another apartment type, such as a room in a shared apartment, to maximize your chances on getting an apartment.

To whom: Two applicants
Location: Helsinki (Harustie 7 and Välimerenkatu 5)
Rent (in 2025): approx. 398 – 485 €/person/month
Apartment size: 25 m2 (Välimerenkatu 5) and 40 m2 (Harustie 7)
