Value chain
We create conditions for responsible living throughout the housing experience so that our tenants can focus on student life. At the same time, we also want to support the development of responsible housing practices. We are developing the sustainability of our contract partners in our service agreements because, to achieve our goals, we all need to work together.
Why do we care?
One significant factor in the carbon footprint of our buildings is our tenants. We make responsible living as easy as possible because responsible choices shouldn’t be the most time-consuming or difficult; instead, they should be viable options in a student’s everyday life. Furthermore, by providing clear and understandable sustainability communication, we can help foster responsible living habits. However, tenants shouldn’t bear the primary responsibility for the sustainability of our business — that is our job.
The emissions from our value chain (scope 3 purchased products and services) have become the most significant source of emissions alongside construction since we switched to purchasing all of our energy from renewable sources.
We also want to influence the service production of our partners by ensuring that all our partners operate responsibly. We have partners ranging from large publicly traded companies to small operators, and we understand that the capacity for sustainability reporting varies. We’ve categorized our partners into different groups, each with its own requirements for current sustainability reporting levels and future goals.
What are we doing?
- Apartments in prime locations near public transportation and services.
- High-quality, durable materials in apartments.
- In future new developments, we will provide as many waste bins as there are types of recyclable waste in our properties.
- We incorporate sustainability into our contracts and procurement criteria.
- We bring ethical principles into all of our contracts.
- We have developed a comprehensive concept to ensure social responsibility in construction projects.
